Stephen F. Aton

Steve earned his Bachelor of Arts with honors cum laude and Master of Arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia. 

He earned his Juris Doctor (law) degree with honors from the University of Florida in 1988. Steve was the Editor-in-Chief of the Florida Law Review and published three articles while still in law school. Steve was awarded membership in the coveted Order of the Coif, an honor society reserved for graduates in the top 5% of the last five years of law students at their respective school.

After obtaining his law degree, Steve clerked on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit with Nixon appointee, the Honorable Thomas Gibbs Gee.  Following the clerkship, Steve returned to Florida to practice transactional business law.  He soon returned home to establish his own practice in his native city of Springfield. He maintains his license to practice in Florida and has clients in the Sunshine State. 

Steve believed that in starting his own practice, he could be more effective in helping people deal with a variety of legal issues. In 1990, he opened his law practice. Since then, Steve has represented numerous high-profile clients in southwest Missouri and beyond. 

Steve is active in a number of professional organizations including the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association. He is a frequent speaker at the continuing education programs of the Missouri Bar.  Steve is the Chariman of the Trial Lawyers Committee and the past President and current member of the Greene County Estate Planning Council. Steve treats every client with respect and integrity.

William R. Pfeifer

Bill has worked with the firm almost since the beginning. He is a Colorado native and a  graduate of the University of Denver with a degree in Accounting and Taxation. Bill has vast business experience in banking, oil, agriculture and real estate.  His expertise is helpful in many areas of the practice.
