Choosing A Successor Trustee.  You are probably acting as the Trustee of your Revocable Trust. But upon your incapacity, death or resignation for any reason, a Successor Trustee will need to act on your behalf. Choosing a successor is an important decision and many factors should be considered. The Springfield Business Journal just published my article on this topic in the November 23, 2009 issue. The article describes the issues that you may wish to consider in selecting a competent and effective Successor Trustee. (click here for the article)

Client Settlement of $500,000.00.  My client was recently offered and accepted a half million dollars for a personal injury from her automobile crash. Trial had been set for the end of August. A Life Care Planner and Ph.D. economist were set to testify to the client's significant and permanent injuries when the offer came. The settlement represents the full proceeds under the insurance policy. Here is the story as reported in MO Lawyers Weekly (click here for the article)

Chairman, Trial Practice Committee: Steve was appointed Chairman of the Trial Practice Committee for the Springfield Metro Bar Association. The Committee provides educational opportunities and member support to trial lawyers. For the first time in several years, the Committee is presenting seminars on the following jury trial issues:

    - Pleadings/Summary Judgment Motions
    - Pretrial Discovery
    - Expert Depositions
    - Voir Dire (jury selection)
    - Evidence, Exhibits, & Foundations
    - Jury Instructions
    - Unwritten Rules of Trial Practice Civility

Money Guide:
The Missouri Bar has published an excellent Money Guide that may be of interest to you. As we work through the deepest recession in decades, the Guide is very timely. You will find information on dealing with debt collectors, handling your medical bills, credit cards and more. Check it out by clicking on the following link:
